When I was a pre-teen I loved horses because my best friend really loved horses. I just liked when they nuzzled you.
Dreaming of Home
mixed media, acrylic, ink on found map
11"x14"
SOLD
Home. Freedom and sanctuary from the world. You can breathe. Let down your guard, show your true face and dream of other places. And yet, when upon those places, still, I dream of home.
The piece, Dreaming of Home, incorporates my love for found objects, common touchstones, the scratch and flow of ink and acrylic and the altered image.

"My fascination is with what is just under the surface, obscured from full view. I like to work in away that is receptive to the subconscious mind. When I can let go of control and be without my own narration this is when the magic happens and the painting paints itself"
Sometime I will use images that are not my own. Not to claim them as mine more to connect with a collective unconscious. Old Anatomy books are a source of inspiration. They are distant, somehow removed from the actual subject they are meant to represent. I recycle stamps from my father's collection and often re-use his written Scientific research reports or just as likely pages torn from an 1800s Tennyson book of poetry given to me by a grade school friend, stollen from her parents bookshelf . So now you know. Lost and found
Antler Girl
Antler Girl 2015 SOLD OUT
Antler Girl is a high resolution scan of one of my original hand made, cut and paste, assemblages.
Started as a line drawing on vellum, which I placed over a print of my painting 'I Am Here'Antler Girl began to take shape as I added found elements from my work desk as well as imagery from an old map. With the painting beneath hauntingly visible through the transparency of the vellum, I incorporated a piece of etched Plexiglas from a previous work as another layer to create a harmonic visual interpretation of an imaginary mythological tale.

CBC TV late night art show ZeD Art and Soul episode 57
I was the only woman in the company of the likes of Reece Terris , Ray Ceasar, Kris Knight & others for an all artist episode on CBC. All spoke well about their art. I am of the mind that art should speak for itself. However, when I hear artists that can really share to people what they do . I wish I was doing the same with words ~ Having said that ~it is the reason I create art . Nadina Tandy
