From my Sunshine Coast studio

Dear Art Lovers,

I've been gathering my work over the last few months while trying to decide which pieces to exhibit for the upcoming Power of Paint show. I'm drawing from a raw, yet lighter and more vulnerable body of work. Please come say hello at the weekend exhibition details below.

with love, Nadina

Upcoming Exhibition The 5th Annual Power of Paint Exhibition takes place August 12-14, 2016, at the Seaside Centre (5790 Teredo Street, Sechelt, BC) with an opening reception Friday, August 12 at 5pm. The unique quality of Eleven Equal Artists as a group is in their varying styles and deep respect for one another. After 15 years of meeting regularly to share their work, they conspired to exhibit together on the Sunshine Coast in what has become an annual event. This year's collaborative piece is "What Does Power of Paint Mean to You?" With their commitment to giving back to the community the proceeds from this event will help finance Eleven Equal Artists Bursaries. All artists will be in attendance during the show: Morley Baker, Josefa Fritz Barham, Todd Clark, Elizabeth Evans, Greta Guzek, Carol LaFave, Kim LaFave, Ian MacLeod, Cindy Riach, Nadina Tandy and Marleen Vermeulen.                                                                                 photo credit: Rhoni Lloyd Whyard, 2011

ART MATTERS | 4 steps to getting shit done.

Disclaimer : all the opinions expressed are my own

Lets blow it up, just do your art and shut the fuck up. I am offering you 4 easy solutions to follow for inner creative peace. You can add to the list in the comments, hell lets coauthor an e-book.

#1 : Create. Create anything. Just start. Don't judge it or think you are amazing. Just pick up a pencil show up to life drawing class. Shut up and draw.

#2 STOP TALKING. Talking about shit, no more conversations about sensitive digestion or your ingrown toe nail that has haunted you and stopped you from being a fully realized super star. Yawn, are you boring yourself?

#3 DON'T LISTEN TO WHAT OTHERS THINK ABOUT YOU OR YOUR ART. Don't listen to what you think about others and their art.

#4 BE IN THE PRESENT. Just 'be' in the  present moment of the creative process and all the other crap will shrink. The perfect weather or the perfect space. You make things happen when you create art with whatever tool you have, wherever you are. It lives in you, don't over think it.

                                         &nb…

Fine Art , not for the faint of heart. My one line elevator pitch.

The cranky artist motivational series has a gift for you! A printable version of ART MATTERS 4 steps to inner creative peace and getting shit done. With love Nadina

Pentimento

Dear Friends and art lovers,

Sometimes the best course of action is to let go of the past in this case the past is last years painting.

In preperation for up-coming exhibitions I become immersed in my painting . For me it is a good place to be no matter how neurotic I can get .

Last year this time life derailed my focus from painting. Life can be that way, creating a path you did not see coming . The painting I was working on at that time 'Pathways' never felt complete to me . I was rushed, distracted and my priorities were shifted.

The profound influence life events have on us are always under the surface they inform our present I feel this when I create. Last years painting is the under painting for a fresh perspective being grateful for it all.

Now to work,

fond regards Nadina

The bursaries were funded through the sale of panels from the collaborative art work at the 2013 Power of Paint exhibition . We are honoured to be advocates of arts and culture for our young people.
